HEMODIALYSIS

The dialysis unit is one of the specialized areas of Medical Center Taguig that takes care of patients who need renal replacement treatment for Acute and Chronic Renal failure both in and out patients. The staff are well skilled, trained and competent. Nephrologist who are Board certified by the Philippine Society of Nephrology, Nephorology of Fellows-in-training, Hemodialysis-trained nurses and technicians.

Board certified Nephorologist are responsible for the overall care of the patient. A medical resident or Nephrology fellows-in-training stays in the unit.

A Hemodialysis technician prepares the machines for the procedure and deals with the machine related problems accordingly. They are also the one to conduct disinfections and cleaning of the dialyzers for reuse. 

The MCT Hemodialysis Unit is located at the 3rd floor of the hospital. It has Ten (10) machines, including One (1) dedicated for Hepatits B positive patient and One (1) machine for ICU patients. It has Ten (10) reclining chairs and One (1) bed. An isolation room is also dedicated for those with communicable diseases.

The unit offers the following;

• Dialysis treatments
• Laboratory examination packages including Renal Replacement Therapy.
• Patient Health Education

The unit also have the following features;

• Purification of water is double pass reverse osmosis
• Sterilization and regular strict disinfection of the machines.
• Water analysis, soecifically chemical is done every Six (6) months by an independent department of health-accredited laboratory.
• Endotoxin level determination is done monthly.
• The unit is fully equipped to address emergency situations.

The unit isopen from 4am to 10pm and divided into Four (4) shifts a day from Monday to Sunday except during disinfection schedules. In emergency situations, patients are accommodated based on the needs and circumstances.
